John Terry - un vrai heros britannic
C'est bien que John Terry est capitaine du team. Quand cet honneur était announced, il a tout de suite fait part de sa pride a cette honneur et combien c' est important pour lui d'etre le leader du team.
Puis il a joué contre la Republic Cheque comme un imbécile absolu. Le team etait lucky de scramble un goal au last moment.
C'est comme cela au Royame Uni/UK. Ce qui est important est ce que vous dites. C'est beaucoup plus important de talk patriotic drivel than de gágner des matches et aller aux international Meisterschafts.

Pocketsurfer (V.1)
There doesn't seem to be any independent review of the Pocketsurfer on any blog. I've had one (actually two - see below) for 6 months.
The idea of it is that it's linked to the internet but you can't make phone calls.
Some problems:
It takes a minute to log in. Also it switches off after 5 minutes. So if you get up to make a cup of coffee, you find it's switched off and you have to log in again. (Altho' you only have to press 2 keys to do so.)
This is probably because the battery is not very good. Supposedly it lasts 4 hours fully charged but 2 hours seems more like it and it's not clear when it is fully charged. But it's no big deal to run it from the mains.
It's quite cheap to run. You get 20 hours a month free, clearly inadequate, but it's only £6 a month, which compares very favourably with my mobile phone (the dreaded Orange network), which is £5 a week. And at times the mobile is unbelievably slow.
It doesn't do sound or videos. Maps are OK at first but the more you shift the scale or direction, the more confused the maps get.
When you're on the home page, it gives you 3 "news" stories. These appear to be chosen by a Canadian-Scots bureaucrat. (HQ is in Montreal). The "news" is never about Georgia or plane crashes, it's government waffle, frequently from the pages of the Scotsman about the government of bonnie Scotland. However, type anything in and it takes you to Google's home page. One problem is, if you use Google News and want to switch to another nation, say Australia or the new India:Tamil service, it's a matter of luck to do this. Quicker to go to Google.au.
Often the page you want is difficult to read. I abandon the attempt about a 1/4 of the time. Also, if you switch from one page to the next, the screen slowly changes from the 1st page to the next. This is a bit confusing. However the display of about ten lines at a time is OK and a lot easier than a mobile. As is writing E-mails or blogs - a bit slow, but still easier. Colour is variable - simple colours are quite bright, but complicated ones tend to be dinjy.

This took about 1/2 hour because the (non) assistant appeared to have been in Britain for about 2 weeks, barely speaking English and clearly unfamiliar with our alphabet. I'm not too good with modern technology - anything after 1990 basically - but there doesn't seem to be any way of saving pages or bookmarks. However you can get onto the wondrous Net 19 times out of 20, as against less than 1/2 the time with the ghastly Orange World.
When I bought it it was £180. It's now down to £150. To me it's worth about £60-80. (kr 600-800). But I do use it every day. Perhaps I'll get the larger Acer sometime, which is a small computer with internet, currently £200.

Une curiosite de Wikipedia
Dans l'article sur l'ile de Samos en grec, on peut lire qu'en 440 BC (before chips) Pericle & Sophocle ont attacked ce petit ile pres de Turkiye et ont massacred tous les hommes.
Mais dans les autres langues, ils ont attacked sans mention de massacre.
Est-ce que mes 2 (ou 3?) lecteurs cognosc des erreurs similaires de Wikipedia? (Surtout en Vol-a-puk?)

Les Georgiens sont fous
Pourqoi les Georgiens ont décidé d'attaquer l'Ossetie du Sud. Pourquoi s'imaginent-ils que les Russes wood do nada? Oui, l'ours russe est tres violent. (D'ailleurs, le nom du President Medvedev veut dire "ours" (Bjoern)). Alors, pourquoi le provoquer! L'Armée de l'Air a 8 avions & 3 hélicos. Les Russes ont 2800. Dont 260 Hind hélicos d'attac.
Heureusement que nobody a remarquei que le drapeau anglais est le drapeau de St.-Georges.
A cross gules on a field argent. Le drapeau de Georgie/Sacartveli est la meme chose, mais avec 4 petty crosses gules in the quarters.
Je vois pour la 1e fois la difference entre BBC24 & Sky News, du disgusting Rupert Murdoch. Sky vous montre des cartes facile a comprendre avec des reporters en Georgie. La beeb vous montre des interviews avec des Georgiens comme le président totally deranged et le vice-ambassadeur a Londres qui nous donnent des harangues sur l'énorme evil des Russes et comme il faut give full support a la petite Georgie so heroic. F$$$ off.

Pourqoi pas une femme?
Au Royaume Uni (UK) tout le monde (?) a la fievre pour remplacer le PM. Nous voulons un PM qui peut agiter un magic wand et reduire le prix de l'essence, gaz, food etc.
Mais tout le monde pense a des hommes. Sur tout les mecs that nous savons tres peu about. David "the boy David" Miliband. Alan "the Postman" Johnson. Qui n'ont jamais fait f###-all.
Pourqoi pas une femme? Parce que le Parti Labeur est le parti feministe. Le parti des femmes qui hate men like poison. Alors pouqoi pas Harriet "Harperson" Harman, qui est dans le cabinet since beaucoup plus long temps que les blokes que l'on talks about.

Brit-group No2 in US Hot 100! Coldplay!
Incroyable! Pour probablement la 1e fois this century, un groupe british sont No.2 in Gringolande! C'est-a-dire Jeu-froid avec Viva la Vida, de leur album of the same name. Leoni Lewis est encore #3 et Natacha Bedingfield est also there dans le Top 10.
C'est meme mieux au Canada, ou l'autre tune de leur nouvel EMI-album, Violet Hill, est aussi dans le top 10.
La last annee ou les Brit-groupes ont had a succes en Gringolande fut 1994, avec les heavy-metallers Def Leppard de Sheffield et les UB40 de Coventry, avec un morceau d'Elvis (Je can't help tomber en amour avec vous).
N.B. "Violet Hill" n'est pas tres populaire au Royaume Uni. Et il a bombed dans plusieurs Euro- marcheis, surtout les scandinaves.

L'Islande sous le cosh
L'Islande est en train d'etre hard-hit par la recession. L'ancienne republic, dont la Queen est Bjoerk, qui s'est transforme en The Icelandic Hedge Fund, avait known une expansion enorme, thanks to la sur-valuation enorme de sa Bourse, l'OMX 15.
Maintenant les irlando-Vikings pensent qu'on peut eviter le damage en talking up leur economie, c'est-a-dire si on ignorent que le Bank Rate est de 15% et que la krona islandaise perd de la valeur, Everything's gonna be all rite.
Aux 1600s, tout allait si mal que les Islandais ont discute d'abandonner leur island. Peut-etre ils vont talk about that de nouveau.

Dark goings-on chez American Atheists. Their chief, Ellen Johnson, has stepped down. First it was given out that she was leaving off her own bat for "personal reasons". Then that she had left "involuntarily". I.e. had been sacked! So the 1st statement was a lie. From the holier-than-thou atheists who always respect the truth. To date, no explanation has been announced. Secretive, no?
More interesting is the story of her predecessor, Madalyn (sic) O'Hair (sic). She disowned one of her sons in 1980 after he converted to the hated Christianity (1).
Then, 1995, she disappeared with her husband and another son.
In 2001, the former office manager of Mercan Atheists was found guilty of kidnapping them, forcing them to withdraw their money, then killing them. He also murdered an accomplice. Later in 1995 most of the money was stolen by another gang, who had a key to the safe deposit.

Soon Iceland's main income will be from Bjoerk's record sales; particularly the track with the Greenland Ladies Choir.

The trolls were very concerned about Liverpool's problems. They went into solemn session in their mainland capital of Bjoerkvinmonopolet (which they mangles as Bergen.)
They came up with a solution. Have the referee be a Norwegian psychologist. They rang their contacts at UEFA and blackmailed them. Easy.
He then refereed the match and sent off an innocent man. Plus, as a psychologist, he played mind games with the innocent I-ties. Liverpool win 2-0 on the night and Rafa lives a little longer.
Probably he's a follower of Transactional Analysis and well familiar with Eric Berne's "Games People Play". (Spiele der Erwachsenen/ Les jeux et les hommes)

I discovered recently that the most serene Hanseatic city should really be called Bjoergvin. The trolls mangle Norsk and say it Bergen. Because they prefer Stadin Slangi of Helsingfors.

Too bad our modern groups are rubbish.
4 of the non-fiction(Sachbuecher) are British.
The Guinness; Eric Clapton; Tv-Chef Jamie Oliver (bet they can't understand his London accent); and Prof. Dawkins (der Gotteswahn).

The British Liberal Democrats (LDP, as only I call them) have 62 MPs. How many are non-white? Go on, guess.
0. None. Nada. &, yes, it is 2008. This is the high-and-mighty LDP that attacks the Tories for racism when they suggest that the New Labour regime has consistently lied to us about immigration.
Worth remembering when the LDP refers grandly to some mythical British tradition of tolerance, going back to Magna Carta (which they've obviously never read), and ignoring problems like slavery, the Empire, no votes for women till 1919, child slavery during the industrial revolution etc.

Nasty German girls win Weltpokal

The German Walkyries retain the Cup. But what a nasty team. Crunching tackles. Pointless kicks every time the Brasilian girlies came near them. Fruktaensvaert.
3/4 place. US Babes 4:1 Noreg.
The Norse blondies destroyed their morale by listening to Death Metal before the match. So all they wanted to do was play chess with death.
As for the British they lost 3-0 in the QFs to the US super-babes. Not surprising, given their habit of falling over every time anyone came near them.

Naomi Klein, the Canadian anti-capitalist ("No Logo" etc.) has revealed in the Guardian the real purpose of the Falklands War of 1982. It was to provoke British miners into a strike and then close down the mines. After winning the 1983 election thanks to a "Falklands Factor".
Only a few problems:
The Tory vote fell in 1983. The Tories only won thanks to the split in the opposition. (The belief the Tory vote rose substantially is a frequent myth.)
Winning a war doesn't guarantee victory. In 1945, Churchill was given the "order of the boot".
The miners strike was mishandled by the extreme leftist leader Arthur Scargill. He was clearly beaten after 6 months, but only went back after 12. & his extremism alienated many floating voters.

Reading her rather obvious book the Caged Virgin, seems her real problem is not with Islam but with Somalis. Her mother, although educated, used to give her real beatings. Given that Somalia is the most violent country in the world (or, countries, since law and order has broken down and there are now several Somalias), and given the casual violence of Somalis in Britain, it seems likely that other Islams are less violent.
Ayaan Hirsi Ali is of course the former Dutch MP (VVD) who has gone to the United Satans of Amerika as a refugee, the quiet, sensible Dutch being unable to protect their MPs from other Somalis.

What do the Greens/n' Glasee want? Fewer cars in Dublin/B.a.C.? More emission control? More immigrants to supposedly make Erin richer? A greener European Union/Aontas Eorpach ?
Naa. They're against co-location hospitals. Not sure what they are, but I doubt they have anything to do with the climate change CRISIS.

Nice to know Britain's not unique in stupidity about elementary economics.
In the land of Oz, a report has just been issued presenting the current drought as - a business opportunity! Those few areas where there is a good water supply will become sought-after areas for houses! Money money money!
Areas such as Hobart, in Tasmania, and surprisingly Perth on the west coast.
Just one thing - to buy the new house, you usually sell the old house. Since that will be in a dry area, you'll have to sell it cheap, or not at all.
Seems the Ozzie press, like the British, is so dazzled by the idea of PROFIT that they lose all wisdom.

From 5th April, 40 000 unemployed who claim that they can't speak English will have their benefits cut, unless they sign up for English classes. Prediction:

English classes for immigrants are already freely available. The Gumn, as usual, is talking about making them available, as if they'd never heard of them.
The Gumn (Government) is continually threatening to cut people's benefits, even by only a small amount. For instance, for anti-social families. But they never dare and it's soon forgotten in Britn, where the average person has the memory of a 3 year old (except for showbiz, natch).

Selon la version espagnole, il "fue definitivamente abolido en 1980".
La version italienne ne le mentionne pas. Mais elle remarque "la tensione e ancora una delle principali caracteristiche della vita politica."

Animals. Curious incident of the baby and the fox
A curious incident in Croydon, SW London. A little boy of 2 is discovered at 6 in the morning in the street. Turns out he is the 4th child of an unmarried mother of 27, who describes her "sexuality" as open-minded.
What is curious is that he had with him his little dog and - a fox. When the little 'un was discovered by passers-by, our foxy friend ran off. But what was it doing - guarding the human cub, or perhaps hoping to adopt it and bring it up as a feral child?

Greenland/Vikings. Did you know?
Did you know that when the Vikings arrived in Greenland, there were no Inuit there? They'd died out. However, a new immigration began after 1000.
Also, it was warmer then than now. So maybe callin g it Greenland wasn't so dishonest.
Later, the Vikes were wiped out by a mini ice age. Starting around 1400 according to Norse Wikipedia, but 1550(-1850) according to German Wikiped. Which doesn't seem to agree with the Norse and English articles, believing that there werte Inuit there of the Dorset culture. (Named after Cape Dorset on Baffin Island, now in Nunavut, Canada.) The Dorset Kultur is said to be inferior to the current Inuit Kultur.

The BBC etc. are already going into overdrive to ridicule the idea that there was anything strange about her death. Strangely, they never deal with the most FAQ, i.e. why has there not been an inquest after 9 years? Inquests are typically held about 10 WEEKS after a death abroad.

Putin "no angel" shock discovery
Patience Wheatcroft, lady editoress of the Sunday Telegraph (Cons.), has written an article in last Sunday's comment page revealing that Putin's Russia is not always nice.
This is a shock, as Mr Putin was formerly a colonel in the KGB (Komminists for Gentleness & Beauty), the East European branch of Mother Teresa's help-the-dying charity. So, naturally, human rights in Rossiya would be a big thing for him. Yet, amazingly, bad things happen to people who annoy him.

A certain gentleman from Iceland, a Mr Bjoergolfur Gudmundsson of the Landsbanki, has just bought West Ham United, main team in East London, for nearly £100 million (140 m. Euro). Not exactly a bargain.
Combined with the Icelandic "Viking raids" on Britain's High Street, a few people are wondering where the money's coming from. Last year the Independent (Old Labour bourgeoisie) and the Guardian (Labour inner party) asked how little Iceland, pop. 300 000, about the same as Cardiff, can afford to spend so much on buying British. This was picked up by Stoed-2 TV on Iceland (seems Iceland has more than one telly!), who repeated these concerns but doesn't seem to have added anything (according to Iceland Review).
There's some good articles in English on the Danish Ekstra Bladet site. Written in choicest English.
So the question remains - where's the money coming from? If not from Russia (with love), where? - Already champions Chelsea, and Edinburgh's Hearts club, are Russian owned. Chelsea bought themselves the English championship by spending silly amounts of money.

Les "Brights". Les esperantistes de l'anti-religion
Le Prof. Richard Dawkins, d'Oxford, et des copains ont fonde un nouveau mouvement d'atheisme avec le nom des "Brights" [les brillants], ki veut faire reference aux Lumieres [the Enlightenment]. Ses adversaires, les croyants et les superstieux etc., sont les "Dims" [ obtus, litt. sombres, sans eclat].

Red Ken, the BBC & having a go
Another murder in Hackney, inner north London. A Congolese refugee, married father of 2 young children, confronts a dozen yobboes & is stabbed to death. This causes a great wave of emotion.
A curiosity. On the BBC1 news for London, at 1.30 pm, Tuesday, they show a video of "Red" Ken Livingstone, popular mayor of London, saying people shouldn't "have a go" , bu t call the cops. In other words, altho' Ken is always telling us how safer we are under his mayorship, it's dangerous to challenge out-of-control yobboes. This video was repeated at 10.30 pm.
There is NOT A SINGLE reference to this on the Internet! Not on the Beeb website. Nor in the paper editions of the Times & Daily Wail.Nor the Mirror. Yet the question of whether criminals now control our streets, and must not be challenged, is surely important.

This week's fatuity. (Anglais/francais)
I thought I'd try and post a fatuity once a week. Here's one I heard on the Today prog. of Radio Guardian (a.k.a. R4).
Church of England bishop/vicar : "The Scriptures tell us God is neither male nor female."
Oh they do, do they???
What about the prayer to "Our Father"? What about "the Lord's my Shepherd"? And not "the Lady's my shepherdess".
Worst of all, what about the popular hymn -
Dear Lord and Father of mankind
Forgive our foolish ways.
Is that to be banned? Torn out of the hymn books?
